User Types

Open API is designed for two main types of users:

Retail Investors: Simply complete online account opening and deposit with Tiger Brokers to apply for API access permissions. Individual users can complete authentication through the OpenAPI Application Page. Once approved, they can refer to the quick start documentation for integration.
Institutional Investors: Can submit developer information registration and apply for API permissions through Tiger Brokers' institutional backend. For details, see Institutional Account Center.

Prime Account: Supports all market types, margin trading functionality supports selected stocks, supports trading in stocks, warrants, callable bull/bear contracts, options and futures, account types include margin and cash accounts, supports order placement at any time
Global Account: Not recommended, supports all market types, margin trading functionality supports selected stocks, supports trading in stocks, options and futures, account types include margin and cash accounts, supports order placement at any time
Paper Trading Account: Supports US stocks, Hong Kong stocks and A-shares trading, supports options trading
